A lot has happened since OK was founded. Initially, we sold coal, but now supply a wide range of energy products to business, industry, farming and private consumers.
OK was founded on 1 January 1978 and is the result of the merger of 7 Danish companies: Dansk Andels Kulforretning, Fyns Kulindkøbsforening, Sydjydsk Andels Olie, Aabenraa Tanklager, Aalborg Kul- og Olieimport, Kommunernes Kulkontor and OK Olie A/S.
Why are we called OK?
OK a.m.b.a. became OK’s official name in 1998. Formerly, the company had been called Olieselskabet Danmark. OK stems from 'Olie Konsumenterne', a Swedish company. This company was a shareholder in the former OK Olie A/S. Even though there is no longer any connection between the Swedish OK and the Danish, the name remained. That's why we opted to make it OK’s official name in 1998.
